'Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi' Theories: Is Rey Luke Skywalker's Daughter?
If there is one mystery that fans of "Star Wars" want "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" to shed light on, it would be the identity of Rey's (Daisy Ridley) parents. The film won't air until the end of the year, but fans already have theories about the subject as early as now.
"Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" will reveal what happened to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) after the events in episode 7. In "The Force Awakens," Rey was introduced as the new protagonist while Kylo was introduced as the main antagonist, along with Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Snerkis).
There are speculations that in the upcoming film, Rey will start her Jedi training under Luke and this will pave way for a big reveal – that she is actually Luke's daughter. Several Reddit users have backed up this claim, saying that it is the most logical explanation for Rey's identity. It can be recalled that when Rey was introduced in "The Force Awakens," nobody knew who she was and where she came from.

Some fans speculate that considering all the parallels between Rey and Luke, their relationship by blood is not far from possible. According to fans, both of them were abandoned on deserted planets, alone and with very little knowledge about their families. Also, Rey's skills as a pilot are almost similar to those of Luke, who is known for being extremely powerful and good at wielding a light saber.
In a previous interview with Heroic Hollywood, Ridley said the identity of Rey's parents was already revealed in "The Force Awakens." Since all the signs point to Luke as her father, including his light saber that called out to Rey, speculations are rife that Rey is actually a Skywalker.
"Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" hits theaters on Dec. 15.
