'Star Wars: Rebels' Season 4 Spoilers: Showrunner Hints 'Explanations and Reveals' Set for Final Installment
In a recent interview, showrunner Dave Filoni confirmed that fans of "Star Wars: Rebels" can expect "explanations and reveals" this season.
To those not caught up on "Star Wars: Rebels" news, season 4 is going to be the animated show's last run. Thus, it is only fitting that Filoni and the rest of the creators provide some, if not all, answers to the burning questions fans have in their minds since the show began in 2014.
Talking to Nerdist, Filoni said: "I don't want this season to be one answer after another, but I wanted to make sure there are things we've set up that we pay off and that you feel you got some answers. There are some big time explanations and reveals that are unlike anything we've done."
In the previous seasons of "Star Wars: Rebels," the flow of the show's plot and how it was delivered was unconventional. Filoni and the rest of the creators did not design "Star Wars: Rebels" to be as serialized as many would expect a TV series would be.
However, the showrunners needed to tweak that approach a little for season 4, considering that this was going to be the show's last installment.
"I've been able to build a lot better connections and motivations across all the episodes as we go. It is very unlike other seasons, because while the episodes are self contained, they are very next to each other in progression," Filoni said in the same interview.
He added: "They affect each other more; it's more serialized than you're used to."
The final installment of "Star Wars: Rebels" premiered on Monday with a two-part episode titled "Heroes of Mandalore" where Sabine led the rest of the Mandalorians to their homeland that had been invaded by the Empire. According to the synopsis, she needed to save her father and the citizens of Mandalore from a "devastating weapon" she had created that had fallen into the hands of the Empire.
"Star Wars: Rebels" season 4 will air its second two-part episode titled "In the Name of the Rebellion" on Monday, Oct. 23, on Disney XD.
