As the team behind "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" prepare for the film's release in December, a new report about one of its actors has recently surfaced. In an interview, "Breathe" actor Andrew Garfield revealed that at some point in the past, director Andy Serkis had to don fake facial hair in order to play Snoke. Serkis is soon making his directorial debut with "Breathe" but will still return to reprise his role as Snoke in the upcoming "Star Wars" film.
"It was a really difficult discussion, and Andy tried to take part as our director, and we couldn't take it seriously," Garfield shared with The Hollywood Reporter. "I think he's more used to wearing that outfit than regular clothes."
The actor recounted that his upcoming movie "Breathe" was in pre-production at the time, and Serkis was coincidentally reprising his role as the Supreme Leader Snoke in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." While the director had very limited time to spare at that moment, he still managed to make everyone chuckle off their feet. According to Garfield, he and actress Claire Foy were talking about their roles in "Breathe" when Serkis suddenly appeared and joined their conversation, wearing Snoke's garb and fake facial hair.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is expected to dig deeper on many of the mysteries that were set up in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," including the mystery surrounding the Supreme Leader Snoke. In the franchise, Snoke is the evil guy in charge of running the First Order who was only seen as a gigantic hologram in the previous installment.
Previously, director Rian Johnson revealed that the upcoming movie may not give a detailed backstory to the character, but it will be treated more like the Emperor in the original "Star Wars" trilogy.
"He's a dark force: the scary thing behind the thing. That was entirely how I approached Snoke. I wasn't interested in explaining where he came from or telling his story, except where it serves this story," Johnson said during an interview with Empire.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will open in theaters on Dec. 15.
