'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' News, Release Date: Full Theatrical Trailer Expected on Oct. 9
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is opening in U.S. theaters in December, and several teasers have already been released to keep fans excited for the upcoming film. This week, new reports have emerged stating that Lucasfilm is already preparing for the unveiling of the highly anticipated full theatrical trailer for the film next month.
In recent weeks, the hype surrounding the next installment in the "Star Wars" franchise has reached new heights as Disney, Lucasfilm and some cast members shared new images and teasers from the film on social media. Recently, toy figures of some of the most popular cast members were also released, giving clues about where the franchise is headed.
Last April, the first "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" trailer was unveiled at the "Star Wars" Celebration event held in Orlando, which offered a first look at the film. Since then, however, the studios have released no real new footage from the movie.
Earlier this week, Twitter user Star Wars News Net, a reliable "Star Wars" news breaker, took to the microblogging site to report that a trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" would finally be out on Oct. 9.
"We confirmed with a long time source that #TheLastJedi trailer is indeed coming on October 9. Mark your calendars. Only two weeks to go!!!" read the tweet.
Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to give their official word on the news, but it brings some sense of validity to "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" star Mark Hamill's recent statement that the second trailer would be dropped on Oct. 9 during Monday Night Football.
The upcoming trailer is expected to offer some meaningful spoilers, as well as give fans in-universe looks at the new characters who were not featured in the trailer released last April. However, fans should not expect this trailer to spoil a majority of the film, as it has been a tradition for its producers to keep a tight lid on their movies before their theatrical release.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will premiere in U.S. movie theaters on Dec. 15.
