'Star Wars: Uprising' mobile game coming on September 10
The "Star Wars" official canon is expanding some more, but this time it will be through an upcoming mobile game that will be released for iOS and Android devices on September 10. The game is called "Star Wars: Uprising" which is being developed and published by Kabam.
The game's description on IGN says that it will "introduce a new chapter of the Star Wars universe that will illuminate dramatic events in the Anoat Sector, inclusive of Hoth and Cloud City, following the Battle of Endor and the death of the Emperor." In this game, players will be encountering a totally different set of characters which include, among others: Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Rebel Guerilla, Diplomat, Gambler or something unique, like a mix of any of the other characters.
In the "Star Wars" timeline, the game is set after the events of the "Return of the Jedi," and according to another report in IGN, this is the reason why the Rebels do not figure prominently in the game as they have been driven out of Hoth and nearby areas in the "Empire Strikes Back."
"Star Wars" fans will be excited to know that the game, along with a recently released novel, "Star Wars: Aftermath," provides some background or introduction to the story line that is expected to happen in the upcoming movie, "The Force Awakens." This is according to another report in Tech Times.
Gameplay, according to the report, has players working with other players, going through missions and fighting off Imperial Storm Troopers with laser pistols. Players can create their own unique characters that have unique skills in combat. Whenever they succeed in their missions, players get items and rewards that will help them improve their characters.
The game will be downloadable on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store and it will be free-to-play.
