'Stars Wars Battlefront 2015' News: New 'Drop Zone' Game Mode Revealed

EA Dice has been steadily revealing new game modes for its upcoming "Star Wars Battlefront" title, the latest of which is "Drop Zone."

With EA Digital Illusions CE launching "Star Wars Battlefront 2015," the third major installment in the "Star Wars Battlefront" video game series in November, it has been upping its promotions by revealing more modes before it releases the actual game.

"Drop Zone, the latest mode to be revealed following the "Blast Deathmatch" mode last month, pits two eight-member teams, Rebel and Empire, against one another in the battle to capture as many points as possible.

The catch is that players won't be aware which part of the map they'll be needed as pods fall indiscriminately from the sky, with the two teams racing against each other to gain control over them.

Once a team captures a drop pod, it then opens slowly, delivering the power it contains to the team that has a hold of it. Some of the pods have Power Pickups inside, but come with additional risks to obtain them.

As a pod slowly opens, allowing the controlling team to claim the power within, another pod falls somewhere else on the surface, giving players the dilemma of whether to stay with the pod they have, or go after the new one.

In a fast-paced action-packed gameplay that lasts only 10 minutes, the team that captures a total of five pods, or gains control over a majority of the drop pods wins the match.

EA DICE has also included certain measures to ensure there won't be any stalemates between the two teams. If a certain pod is captured over and over from one team to the next without either one being able to defend it long enough before it opens and gives over its contents, then the game drops another pod, giving another goal for the teams to pursue.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2015" is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 17, accompanied with a tie-in DLC which will be based on the upcoming December "Star Wars Episode VIII" movie.
