Steam Winter Sale 2015 start time: Deals begin today
One of Steam's online payment partners has inadvertently revealed when the Steam Winter Sale will be starting. According to a report in Polygon, PayPal, through a promotional image it released recently, has tipped off that the start of Steam's much-awaited Winter Sale is happening on December 22. The sale will start at 1 p.m. ET.
Despite the lack of an official announcement from Steam, the date is feasible as it comes a few days before Christmas. Steam's Winter Sale is one of the most anticipated sale events by gamers, according to another report in Tech Times.
In the promotional image, PayPal is telling gamers to "Get Your Game On" on December 22, when the sale begins. It also mentions the use of gift cards for purchases to be made during the sale.

While Steam has not yet shared details about its holiday sale, the Tech Times report speculated that it may or may not follow similar mechanics that were instituted during Steam's previous sale, which was the "Black Friday 'Exploration' Sale. That previous sale offered huge discounts on thousands of games, with daily deals and flash deals. According to the report, it is not known if the same structure will be used in the holiday as Steam is also known to try new things and new gimmicks.
In related news, Valve Corporation, the company behind Steam, has implemented new security measures in order to protect the accounts of Steam users. According to the report, thousands of accounts are hacked monthly and because of this, Valve is looking at new trading rules so that accounts will not be hacked.
With regards to the sale's end date, the announcement was silent on this but the sale usually lasts for one week or around December 30. Some reports are even saying that it may last until the New Year. The Polygon report also said that discounts may be on offer for the new Steam controller or streaming device, aside from the thousands of games in Steam's library.
