'Steep' Alaska DLC News: Free Update Delayed
The free "Alaska" downloadable content (DLC) for "Steep" was delayed and will now be rolled out on Feb. 24, two weeks from its original release date of Feb. 10.
Ubisoft kept it short and sweet in announcing the delay. The developer simply explained on its blog a day prior to the original launch date that it was pushed back in their effort to make sure it is of high quality.
It looks like the "Steep: Alaska" DLC is not on that level yet so the developer deemed it best to buy more time to ensure it will be up to snuff. The announcement from Ubisoft's blog reads:
"Our teams are always committed to bringing the best experience possible to all players. With this in mind, we are postponing the launch of our Alaska free game update to Feb 24th on PS4, Xbox One and PC."
The "Steep: Alaska" DLC will add a new map inspired from the Alaskan Range that will add a slew of new snowy areas to explore with a new wingsuit to boot.
A day before the original release date, Ubisoft also shared a clip to show off the breathtaking locations that the free DLC will add to "Steep."
Along with the announcement of the DLC, Ubisoft rolled out an update that bulks up the game in big ways by adding exciting features.
"Responding to community feedback, the developers have made tweaks to jumping accuracy, scaled back the destructiveness of G-force impacts, improved the Mountain View display, and much more," the developer wrote.
The update also paved the way for the "Steep" World Tour Tournament, a monthly competition series where players are tasked to reach a certain number of points to get through the next phase of the competition.
"Steep" was released last December for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is also set to make the jump to Nintendo Switch soon.
