Stephen Baldwin 'Pretty Jazzed' by First Faith-Based Video
He’s better known for his roles in front of the camera, but actor Stephen Baldwin recently took to the other side of the lens to shoot the video for Cory Lamb’s new single, “Break the Cycle.”
Lamb’s catchy pop-rock song is all about inspiring people to break out of the destructive situations they are in, be that a bad relationship or a habit or addiction.
The accompanying video marks Baldwin’s directorial debut but he wasn’t phased being in the director’s seat for a change.
Instead, Baldwin says he was “pretty jazzed” when someone got in touch with him about making the video.
“I got a vision in my head, and pretty much what you see in the video is what came to me the first time I heard the song,” he told CNN.
Baldwin, the youngest of the Baldwin brothers and a born-again Christian, harnessed his experience from the more than 60 movies he's starred in and enlisted the help of film students at Florida State University.
“They were a real blessing. It was a little bit of a risk to use the kids, but many of them knew as much as the people on the crews of the movies I’ve been in. That’s not an exaggeration.”
As for working with Lamb, Baldwin says he was just “blown away by his music.”
“If you want to reach today’s youth you’ve gotta be relevant,” he said. “Cory Lamb, his music and his message are that very thing.
“I believe in Cory’s passion to deliver a positive message to today’s youth.”
Lamb was also enthusiastic about working with Baldwin, still best known for his role in "The Usual Suspects."
“Working with Stephen was amazing,” said Lamb. “He brings so much to the creative process: an incredible track record, creative insights, a deep technical expertise, and infectious energy.
“He’s just an all around great guy.”
Lamb is currently touring with Christian pop/rock band Superchick.
Baldwin recently finished filming for new faith-based flick, "I’m in Love with a Church Girl," in which he stars alongside Ja Rule. The film is due out in the fall.
