Stephen Baldwin Will Continue Praying For Brother Alec Over Political Disagreements
"I am going to love [Alec] till the end of time and continue praying for his understanding," said actor Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects) when asked about the derogatory comments made by his brother concerning religious conservatives.
At the Democratic National Convention in July, Alec Baldwin openly declared his hostility towards the religious right to the effect of an applauding audience:
"To me, the Republican Party is the real great tragedy of the last 25 years because there are lots of good and decent people and a lot of good political points [that have] come from the Republican Party in the post-war period, but it has been hijacked by these fundamentalist wackos.
Stephen, who recently became a born-again Christian, appeared at this years GOP Convention to offer his own views on the politics of the time:
"Systematically in the last few decades, we have seen God removed from a lot of government and a lot of education and a lot of culture. I just think it's a kind of a scary time in that respect, and we need to really kind of get back to God.
In regards to this years Presidential race, Baldwin gave the following response:
"I am here to support the man I believe has the most faith. I think it is more important than ever that the next president be a guy that I think truly, and I believe in my heart, is making his decisions and basing that on being led by God.
Regarding Stephens political involvement, Alec Baldwin told Access Hollywood that he gave his brother the following warning: They're going to use you for political purposes, like both parties use you for your political purposes. When they are done with you, they're going to throw you in the wastebasket.
