Johnson has built a reputation for creative touchdown celebrations including ones that earn his team 15 yard personal foul penalties.

But on Sunday even after his coach warned the whole team in the locker room any celebration that results in a penalty will be dealt with swiftly and decisively, Johnson went ahead anyway.

When Johnson scored a touchdown in the first quarter to put his team in front 14-0 of the New England Patriots, powerhouses in the AFC, he did exactly what the coach told him not to do. Johnson lifted up his jersey and revealed that his undershirt had “Happy New Year” written on it.

Undoubtedly the officials threw the yellow flag and called a personal foul which resulted in a 15-yard penalty after the next kick off.

When Johnson got back to the sidelines head coach Chan Gailey brought him aside and told him that he was going to be benched for the rest of the game.

"I didn't know it was going to draw a penalty," Johnson said according to NESN.com. "At the end of the day, what I did was what I did, and I am going to try and bring in the New Year. Ultimately, it hurt my teammates, and that is the thing that is hurting me the most.”

It did hurt his team because the Bills only scored one more touchdown the rest of the game. When Gailey was asked if he was tired of Johnson antics the coach replied, "I got tired of it the first time it happened, but you hope people learn from situations," Gailey said. "You know, there isn't anybody who hasn't made mistakes, but you've got to learn from your mistakes.
