Steve Martin a Dad at 67: Secret Pregnancy Mimics 'Father of the Bride'
Hiding his wife's pregnancy from the rest of the world, Steve Martin has allegedly become a father for the first time at the age of 67.
Reports released on Wednesday have claimed that Steve Martin, 67, and his wife Anne Stringfield, 41, have become first time parents. After dating for 3 years, Martin and Stringfield were married in 2007 but have never had kids. During his previous marriage to Vitoria Pennant, which ended in 1994, Martin also went without having a child.
The newest reports however state that Stringfield, a writer and former staffer for The New Yorker magazine, has given birth to a child. The birth allegedly happened in December without anyone knowing that Stringfield was pregnant.
"They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows," a source told the New York Post. "Steve's very private."
But despite keeping things a secret, the couple is supposedly no less excited about welcoming a baby into the world.
"They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby," the source added during an interview that was released by the NY Post on Wednesday. Reps for Steve Martin have not yet commented on whether or not the rumors are true.
Becoming a new father may help to explain why Martin had begun to talk like a "Dada" on Twitter.
"Coo coo, cutsy wootsy, footsy pie," he Tweeted on Feb. 11. In a second Tweet he added, "My recent dada Tweet was admired by the artistic community."
That the "Father of the Bride" actor has never had children may seem strange to some fans since he was impressive at playing the dad role in movies. Even more ironic, however, is that Martin and his on-screen wife also became pregnant at a late age in "Father of the Bride Part II."
