Steven Sund details 5 facts about J6 in Tucker interview: National Guard, Nancy Pelosi and 2020 riots
4. Charges against summer 2020 rioters dropped
At the end of the interview, Carlson brought up what he described as the politicization of law enforcement. This prompted Sund to contrast the events of Jan. 6, 2021, with the riots that broke out in Washington, D.C., the previous year following the death of George Floyd in police custody.
Sund asserted that the D.C. Police Department was prevented from collaborating with the U.S. Secret Service from taking action to protect the White House from violence as nearby St. John’s Episcopal Church was engulfed in flames. He implied that Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, ordered the police to stand down.
When Carlson said that “more officers were injured” in the 2020 riots than on Jan. 6, Sund agreed. Sund expressed outrage at a previous notification to him that “all charges were dropped” for those who tried to vandalize the White House and burn down the church and Hay Adams hotel.
“There were Secret Service agents bloodied and battered over there. There were a number of federal agencies that were hurt, structures set on fire. They tried to light the Hay Adams hotel on fire that was occupied.”
