'Steven Universe' Season 5 News: Everything to Know

"Steven Universe" originally started out as a children's show with a simplistic plot. However, given the dedication of the show runners behind the animated series, it has quickly turned into one of the most loved and complex series. Considering that the fifth season of "Steven Universe" is approaching, fans are interested on what to expect. Fortunately, program creator Rebecca Sugar has a few things to say about her beloved show.

"Steven is really going to have to turn inward and face himself. Throughout the show, he's put everyone else first, and his main goal has been to become the person his family wants him to be," Sugar told The Verge in an interview. "That's got to shift. He's got to accept that it's impossible to fill the shoes of his mother, Rose Quartz. She was always barefoot."

Details for "Steven Universe" season 5 were also revealed during the New York Comic Con, which recently concluded. The fifth season will kick off with an episode titled, "Dewey Wins." On the other hand, the San Diego Comic-Con revealed that Steven and Lars will be faced with the consequences of their actions in the homeworld, that Sadie will be heartbroken, that Lion will go missing, and that there will be several space battles.

Sugar also teased that "Steven Universe" season 5 will be something akin to a murder mystery that cannot be solved in a single episode. There will also be several things in store for Steven and Connie's relationship, especially since she was deeply hurt when he left her behind.

Considering how "Steven Universe" has quickly evolved from being a mere children's show to one of the most complex animated series, fans are expecting to see a lot of heartbreak, realization, and development in the upcoming season. Fortunately, they will not have long to wait as new episodes are scheduled to premiere on Oct. 26.
