Sting Returning to WWE for Final Match? Commentators Predicting Wrestlemania 31 Return

Several reports have stated that the professional wrestlers known as Sting may be making his way back to the WWE for a final match and then head into the sunset of retirement. Commentators and fans have been speculating about who might be worthy of a retirement match for the iconic wrestler.

"In my perfect, booking world, which actually doesn't exist and is an oxymoronic statement, Sting would have one match … a retirement match at WM31 against a suitable villain even though some will lobby for that retirement match opposition to be Undertaker. A smaller, athletic young talent who needs the 'rub' would arguably be ideal," commentator Jim Ross posted to his blog.

And according to Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc., who writes for "Wrestling Observer Newsletter," there is talk that Sting and the Undertaker will both retire at Wrestlemania 31, which will take place in California. It's an admirable idea, but could the Undertaker actually hold his own against Sting? Fans were stunned when the undefeated Undertaker lost his first match ever at Wrestlemania XXX (30).

There is also talk that the WWE could bring back another icon, The Rock, to battle Sting in an epic match at Wrestlemania. Of course, this is still an entire year away, and anything could happen. The Undertaker, for one, could choose to leave quietly, without a final match, especially given the fact that his streak at Wrestlemania was just broken. It might be a good time for him to leave.

Sting, however, has been to WCW what the 'Taker has been to the WWE, and it would be fitting to bring him home to the WWE for grand finale. Who could take him on, though? If Ross is right, then Daniel Bryan would be the perfect foil to Sting's persona and body type. Only a big man such as The Big Show or Brock Lesnar, who took out the Undertaker at Wrestlemania could possibly withstand a brutal farewell match with Sting.
