'Stranger Things' Latest News: Season 2 Premiere is 'Fantastic,' Says Netflix Chief

There are several months left until the second season of "Stranger Things" debuts on Netflix. While fans of the show will have to keep waiting until the sci-fi series returns on Halloween, there is a small number of people who have already managed to watch the first episode of the series. Among them is Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos, and he said the premiere episode of "Stranger Things" season 2 is "fantastic."

During the "See What's Next" event in Berlin, Sarandos and Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings shared with NME what they thought of the first episode of "Stranger Things" season 2.

"It's fantastic," Sarandos admitted. "It delivers on everything that every fan wants," he added.

"We have a sense that it's going to be really big," Hastings shared. "The reaction in Netflix internally is building. And when it comes out, it's so exciting to see it just catching on everywhere in the world," he said.

The ending of the first season of "Stranger Things" left fans to wonder what would happen next to the show's story and its characters. In the second season, the stakes will be much greater when the entire city of Hawkins is placed in grave danger as the main cast deals with Will's (Noah Schnapp) return from the Upside Down, according to Comicbook.

While Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) deal with the disappearances of their friends, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Barb (Shannon Purser), Will Byers will be struggling to return to his normal life given his traumatic experience in the Upside Down.

"Stranger Things" season 2 will also be introducing new cast members including "Aliens" actor Paul Reiser as a government employee in charge of cleaning up after the events that transpired in the first season; and "The Lord of the Rings" actor Sean Astin as a love interest for Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder).

"Stranger Things" season 2 premieres on Halloween, Oct. 31, on Netflix.
