'Stranger Things' Musical? Duffer Brothers Open to Possibility, Talk Season 3 Plans

Will "Stranger Things" ever do a musical? It's no secret that some of its cast members have singing abilities but what will happen to the show if the characters break out in song and dance numbers?

Matt and Ross Duffer spoke to Hello Giggles about the possibility of a setting up a "Stranger Things" musical in one episode. The Duffer brothers surprisingly did not completely shoot down the idea and were open to it.

"I'll tell you I'll think about it," Matt explained. "The [the kids] are amazing singers. Sometimes, I've been with them and, you know, Sadie [Sink] and Millie [Bobby Brown] will just start singing. Gaten [Matarazzo] will sing. They'll be correcting each other's pitches, it's pretty impressive."

There are several videos of these young stars online as they show their musical chops. The brothers, however, are sure that one of the kids will not be up for a song and dance.

"Whenever they're doing karaoke, Finn [Wolfhard] always is like, 'I'm not doing it, I'm not involving," Ross shared.

The musical idea sprung from a fan-made video called "Stranger Sings," which told the story of season 1 through catchy songs. The Demogorgon has also been renamed as the Jazz Man in this version.

Meanwhile, the Duffer brothers shared some of their plans for "Stranger Things" season 3 in an interview with IndieWire. There's no talk of a musical episode yet but they want to make the new season weirdly intimate and fun.

The creators also confirmed that a fan favorite will have more scenes in season 3. Erica, Lucas' sister, will have more exposure and the Duffers knew fans will love her while they were still filming season 2.

"Stranger Things" season 3 might premiere on Halloween 2018, just like the second season but there's no word yet on the beginning of production. Viewers who have not seen the show can still catch up on season 1 and 2 on Netflix.
