'Stranger Things' Season 2 News: New Viral Ad Said to Offer Clues About Will's Disappearance

A new marketing campaign for the sophomore season of "Stranger Things" has recently gone viral, and some fans were quick to point out that it might actually be offering some important clues about the upcoming season. Season 2 is set to premiere tomorrow, so it won't be long until fans finally know if their speculations are right.

The new marketing campaign for season 2 promotes the Hawkins Power and Light corporation and features a working phone number that fans can actually call. According to fans, the new viral ad offers a few dark clues about what has been going on in the fictional company since Will (Noah Schnapp) returned and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) disappeared in the previous season.

The billboards, which Netflix recently put up with the help of creative shop Doner L.A., feature the tagline "Flipping the Switch for a Brighter Tomorrow" and are currently installed throughout Los Angeles and New York City. The most interesting aspect of the campaign is that it has a working 1-800 phone number, which if dialed, will take fans to an automated message from Dr. Sam Owens (Paul Reiser).

It can be recalled that towards the end of season 1, the secret program of Hawkins Lab, of which Hawkins Power and Light is a subsidiary, was finally uncovered. Considering the enigmatic conditions surrounding the sudden disappearance of Will, there are speculations that the viral ad hints at some of the mysteries that both the lab and the police department have yet to address.

Although the recording does not give away any concrete detail about Will's disappearance, it attempts to cover up what really happened to him in the season 1 finale, including the many other strange activities that continue to occur as the Upside Down's portal remains unclosed.

"Stranger Things" season 2 will premiere tomorrow, Oct. 27 on Netflix.
