'Stranger Things' Season 2: The Upside Down To Be Explored More

Netflix's "Stranger Things" immediately shot to mainstream fame with its nostalgic take on the horror genre. And with a bigger second season in store, fans are looking forward to seeing their favorite characters in Hawkins, Indiana. However, they can also expect more of the Upside Down.

The first season did not really explore the world of the Upside Down very much, apart from some short glimpses. Based on what was shown, it seems that the Upside Down is a dark and scary place. Thankfully, the second season will feature more of that world when it premieres.

"There are new characters, fun, and the Upside Down will be more of a place... you'll spend more time," show composer Kyle Dixon said at the South by Southwest event (via Digital Spy). "So we'll make a lot more weird music this time around."

And while season 1 did end on a somewhat happy note, there were still a number of questions left unanswered by its conclusion. However, Charlie Heaton promises that season 2 will take on some of the lingering questions, and teased it definitely exceeded his expectations.

"I didn't know what to expect about where the show was going. But it trumped whatever I was thinking," Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers, told GQ. "A lot of things are going to be addressed."

Heaton is not the first cast member to add to the hype of the second season, though. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, previously revealed that the new season will be "bigger" and "exciting," but that does not mean that it will sacrifice the plot. "It still maintains that same intimacy of story," he promised, according to Bustle.

"Stranger Things" season 2 will consist of nine episodes in total, with episode titles having already been released online. All episodes of the sci-fi horror series are set to debut simultaneously on Halloween, Oct. 31, on Netflix.
