'Stranger Things' Season 2 Review: Series Brings New and Familiar Elements in a Gripping Horror Tale

Since the first season of "Stranger Things" aired on Netflix, the series has continually and persistently amassed quite the following. In contrast to most TV shows, fans believe that the boost of popularity that "Stranger Things" received came primarily from the recommendations of friends and family who were gripped by the performance of the cast.

With the premiere date of "Stranger Things" season 2 on the horizon, fans are curious as to what critics have to say about it and if it still lives up to its hype.

According to a review by Variety, the unique aesthetic and storytelling that the fans enjoyed the first installment of the series carried over to the second season. "Stranger Things" season 2 delves into a familiar plotline that may be too reminiscent and tiresome for those looking forward to something completely new.

However, the children and the adults of the cast were lauded for their ability to capture the attention of the viewers. Furthermore, several psychological factors come into play, so much so that second season focuses on the horror and devastation that last season's circumstances left behind.

Meanwhile, USA Today pointed out that there might be a question of long-term sustainability, especially considering how the showrunners had yet again put Will (Noah Schnapp) in the face of danger. Furthermore, the later episodes are almost a carbon copy of how the previous season's plot was portrayed. Regardless, "Strangers Things" season 2 still embodies the characteristics that helped its fans fall in love with it in the first place.

There are a lot of monsters that are portrayed in the second season of "Stranger Things." Though it is flawed, critics generally agree that it is a series that is still worthy of being one of the most binge-watched shows on TV. "Stranger Things" season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Oct. 27.
