'Stranger Things' Season 2 Spoilers: New Installment Will Focus on Hopper's Daughter, According to David Harbour

Hopper's (David Harbour) daughter will be taking the center stage when "Stranger Things" airs its second season this fall.

A month before Netflix officially drops new episodes of the hit sci-fi drama, more details about season 2 have been revealed. The latest information comes from cast member Harbour, who recently teased that Hopper's daughter Sarah (Elle Graham) will play a major role in the story next season.

"Hopper's daughter will be the primary focus of Season 2, but not in the way that you think it will be," Harbour told TV Guide. "Hopper's understanding of that relationship and Hopper's understanding of being a father and of being a man grows deeper and deeper in Season 2, and we get a lot of time to explore what that is, but it won't be in the literal way that you think it is. I don't want to tell you any more than that because it's good stuff."

Fans may remember in season 1 that Sarah passed away from cancer before the events of the show. Harbour's comment appears to indicate that season 2 will dig deeper into Hopper's backstory and his time as a father.

As Cinemablend points out, there is a possibility that Sarah's death is connected to the strange occurrences in Hawkins. Harbour previously said saving Will (Noah Schnapp) gave Hopper a renewed look on life — leading to speculations that there is more story to his daughter's death.

Producer and director Shawn Levy teased earlier this year that season 2 will be more frightening than the previous installment. "Stranger Things" is about to venture into a much darker territory, so dark that it "makes the Demogorgon look quaint." Levy went on to say that viewers who were scared by season 1 are probably going to be "more scared" when season 2 hits the small screen.

The second season of "Stranger Things" premieres Friday, Oct. 27, on Netflix.
