'Street Fighter 5' Beta Back This Month
The third beta phase of "Street Fighter 5" is reportedly set to return on December 17 and will run through December 20.
The report came from a NeoGAF user who took a screenshot of a Street Fighter 5 ad on the PlayStation Store. According to the ad, gamers can pre-order for online beta access and for a battle costume Chun-Li.
On December 1, the PlayStation 4 version of Street Fighter 5 beta received an update that brought it up to version 1.06. According to Event Hubs, the PC version of the game also received the update, in what appears to be Capcom preparing for a round of testing. IGN recently posted a screenshot of a pre-order advertisement on the PlayStation Store confirming the abovementioned dates, but Capcom is yet to release an official statement on the next beta phase.
According to Shoryuken.com, the 2015 Capcom Cup is slated for December 6 at the PlayStation Experience in San Francisco. The Capcom Cup's opening ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. ET on Dec. 6. At the event, 32 of the top "Street Fighter" players will compete for the title of World Champion and a prize pool of $250,000. "Street Fighter 5" is one of the confirmed playable games for the competition. All 15 "Street Fighter 5" characters, with the addition of newly-announced Dhalsim (who first appeared in "Street Fighter 2"), will be playable. Fans are expecting six more characters to be released within the first year of SF5's launch and one more all-new character is expected to be revealed for the game.
Cinema Blend speculates that Capcom is saving the big beta announcement for the event and may have just erroneously ran the advertisement a bit too early. Capcom may also reveal the last character for SF5's roster at PSX 2015.
"Street Fighter 5" is scheduled for release on Feb. 16, 2016 for PC and PS4.
