'Street Fighter 5' release date, new characters news: Beta test runs in America, confirmed characters, Birdie kills opponent with snot

"Street Fighter 5" is slated to be released next spring 2016, which explains why Capcom is doing a whole lot of hustling this time around including the beta stress tests that they are holding in different regions.

After the successful beta test releases in Japan, Asia and Europe, Capcom is now in the works of doing the stress test in North America and South America. The schedule slated was Aug. 25 for the first beta test while the second one is on the following day, Aug. 26 from 4PM to 12 AM PST. Japan and Asia beta tests took place last Aug. 22 and 23 while Europe was last August 21, according to Venture Capital Post.

After the beta test in North America and South America proves successful, Capcom will do a global five-day beta test that will happen on yet to be announced date. Everyone who has participated will only need to update their downloaded clients.

While the beta tests are ongoing, a list of the confirmed characters that are going to be part of the roster has already been released by GameSpot. The list includes Ryu and Ken, who have been part of the game series since its arcade debut in 1987, M. Bison, Cammy, Charlie, Chun-Li, Necalli, Vega, and Birdie.

And speaking of Birdie, a gameplay video posted in YouTube by MDZ Ricky revealed the character's unique and hilarious attack power. Humungous punk rocker Birdie can pick his nose and flick his snot at his opponent causing little damage. This action can only happen if the character is left idle for a few seconds. According to Eurogamer, other idle stance animations in the game cannot cause damage just like Birdie's snot. It's just a tiny bit of damage but it can defeat an opponent just like what is shown in the video.

Street Fighter 5 is scheduled for a simultaneous worldwide release in Spring of 2016.
