'Street Fighter 5' News: Which Characters Should 'Street Fighter' Newbies Play?

Now that "Street Fighter 5" is out, fans of the game can once again choose their favorite character to control and play as. However, for those who missed out on the earlier versions of "Street Fighter" and will experience playing the game via its latest version, Attack of the Fanboy suggested that it will be best to start with an easy starter character, providing a character guide that will let the "Street Fighter" newbies continue on with the game.

While the list that the website provided is not really an ensemble of the easiest characters, Attack of the Fanboy opined that the following are highly recommended for those who will play the game for the very first time:

Ken

This is one of the easiest characters to play as, according to Attack of the Fanboy. While it is true that Ken shares some similar moves with Ryu, Ken's moves can be easily executed and done in more successions. Furthermore, his Hadouken projectile is an advantage for him to create some space between him and his opponents.

Chun-Li

One of the reasons why a beginner should start with Chun-Li is because of her abilities in the air. Thanks to her long legs, she can have a very notable range. With this in-air ability, she can leave an enemy completely vulnerable to her attacks.

Cammy

Since speed is a definitely a big help for "Street Fighter" newbies, it is but understandable why Cammy should be considered. While it is true that this character doesn't have any projectile abilities, she's got special moves, such as her Spiral Arrow, which can quickly dictate the submission of an opponent when paired with other combo strings. Furthermore, Cammy's attacks are some of the easiest to execute on the game.

Birdie

In contrast to the other characters of the game who are endowed with speed, which is a necessity for combos, Birdie is almost the opposite, thanks to his big size. While this may be a disadvantage in some instances, it actually works well for him as he can take any beating without getting much injury. Additionally, he is equipped with a Hanging Chain move that is not only useful against his opponents but also easy to use, too.

Rashid

This is a newcomer character on the game and he is suitable for "Street Fighter" newbies too. Just like others on the game, he is endowed with speed, which works well with his moveset.

Laura

She is another new character on the game who replaced Blanka as the Brazilian representative. Though her moves still display similarities to those of Blanka, Laura's play is distinct. Her moves are easy to learn and fun to play with.

Meanwhile, Game Spot noted that "Street Fighter 5" has a long road ahead of it. While the game may be challenging and fun, it opined that for the players of the game to stick to it, Capcom needs to address the issues that mar the game and stick to its update plans.
