'Street Fighter V' News: Capcom to Add Arcade Mode, Punishment for Quitters

Capcom has confirmed that it will be adding an Arcade Mode to its recently released fighting title "Street Fighter V." In addition, the publisher will also be putting a mechanism in place to address the problem of some players quitting a match.

"Street Fighter V's" Arcade Mode

Arcade Mode allows a gamer to play against the computer in a three-round match. The other "Street Fighter" titles had this mode, and it's something that most, if not all, fighting games have. However, an arcade mode is missing in "Street Fighter V," which leaves gamers worried.

Capcom has heard these complaints and has confirmed to Forbes that an Arcade Mode will be coming to the game in the future. However, the publisher did not provide any detail on when the new mode will be released and if it will be free.

"The team is looking into adding an Arcade Mode and we'll have more information to share soon," a Capcom representative told Forbes via email.

Quitting a match will have consequences

Aside from the missing Arcade Mode, the "Street Fighter" community has also observed some players quitting mid-fight. This is a hassle for casual players, but for the more competitive ones joining ranked matches, this can be pretty frustrating, especially since these rage quitters are not punished.

However, on Thursday, Feb. 18, a Capcom spokesperson told Eurogamer that this scenario is about to change. The publisher has stated that it will address "Street Fighter V's" rage quit problem.

"I can confirm that it is something we are going to be addressing to make the gameplay experience one that all fans can enjoy and be rewarded fairly for," a Capcom spokesperson told Eurogamer.

The representative, however, did not explain how Capcom will address the issue and when players can expect the punishments to roll out.

When "Street Fighter V" launched last week, some gamers and industry watchers noted how the game seems to be "incomplete." The latest entry to the popular fighting game series was plagued with issues like server problems and matchmaking difficulties. Capcom has been releasing updates to fix these issues, though.

"Street Fighter V" is now available on PC and PlayStation 4.
