'Suicide Squad' Movie News: Jared Leto in Talks to Play the Joker?
Jared Leto has recently won an Oscar for his performance in "Dallas Buyers Club." Now, the actor might be heading off to do a supervillain movie as Leto is reportedly in talks to star as the Joker in the DC Comics adaptation of "Suicide Squad."
The film is based on a team of villains is coming in 2016, and according to Screenrant, the studio is targeting A-list stars for the ensemble cast. The website's sources claim that aside from Leto, other stars such as Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith and Ryan Gosling are among the top picks for director David Ayer's dream cast.
While there has been no official confirmation, if Leto gets the part, he would follow in the footsteps of the late Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, and Cesar Romero, who all previously starred as the Gotham City villain in film and on television.

Though some might think that a superhero movie would be an odd follow-up to Leto's Academy Award winning role, The Hollywood Reporter's sources confirm the report that after the actor has shown interest with Marvel for "Doctor Strange," it's Joker that the actor is "circling."
"I do [have my eye out on one project]," said Leto to THR. "I am excited about what's happening. There are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going to be an exciting 2015."
After the Oscars, Leto spent time focusing on his music as the lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars.
The actor refused to reveal more information on the project, saying that he was "under lock and key."
"I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure," teased Leto.
"Suicide Squad" will be in cinemas on August 5, 2016.
