'Suicide Squad' News, Spoilers: Margot Robbie Says She has the 'Best Character', Shares Harley Quinn's Psychopathic Ways
Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn isn't only the most popular character (apart from the Joker) in the upcoming "Suicide Squad." In a recent interview, the Australian actress said that she thinks she has the "best character" in the DC antihero ensemble.
In her cover story in the latest issue of Oyster magazine, Robbie talked about being asked by director David Ayer to take on the role of Harley. "For the first time, I thought that I had the best character in the movie," she said. "I wouldn't trade my character in 'Suicide Squad' for anyone else's."
While Robbie was admittedly never a fan of comic books, she was nonetheless excited to play the role of the iconic comic book character. In a recent Vogue profile, Robbie spoke about what makes Harley such an endearing character despite being a dangerous criminal and ex-sidekick of the villainous Joker.

"She doesn't even have superpowers," the actress told Vogue. "She's just a psychopath who runs around gleefully killing people -- she finds joy in causing mayhem, which makes her weirdly endearing and fun to watch."
In the same Vogue story, Ayer spoke about Robbie's performance in the film, saying, "She has ridiculous depth, and she's never been coddled, so she's very physically courageous.
"The things she was doing herself as far as stunts, you wouldn't believe," he gushed. "There's only a handful of actors who do that sort of work themselves."
With "Suicide Squad" poised to be the saving grace of the DC Extended Universe after "Batman v Superman" received mostly mixed and negative reviews, how viewers receive Robbie's Harley Quinn will be crucial to the future of the franchise.
Many Batman fans have been waiting for years for the conflicted character to make her big screen debut and, judging from the comments to the film's trailers, most of them appreciate Harley bringing the humor and laughs in what could otherwise be a film as dark and gloomy as "Batman v Superman."
"Suicide Squad" hits theaters on August 5.
