'Suicide Squad' News: Warner Bros. Eyes Cara Delevingne to Play Harley Quinn

Warner Bros. and DC Comics recently announced that the movie adaptation of the "Suicide Squad" will be hitting theaters just a few months after the premiere of the "Batman vs. Superman" movie. In the comic books, the squad is described as a group of villains who are recruited to perform covert black-ops missions. The film is part of the studio's lineup of upcoming movies based on the DC Comics universe, which will rival Marvel studio's own slate of superhero films.

Fans of the "Suicide Squad" comic books were ecstatic and immediately went into casting director mode as forums and movie review website boards were filled with suggestions as to who will play the part of the elite team of super villains.

Several A-listers are currently rumored to be in talks to star in the film such as Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. The latest actors who are rumored to be appearing in the film are Jesse Eisenberg and British model Cara Delevingne.

According to Time, Eisenberg, who is about to play Lex Luthor in the "Batman vs. Superman" film, might be reprising his role as the tycoon who is bent on destroying Superman in "Suicide Squad."

Cara Delevingne is reportedly also in negotiations with the studio to play Harley Quinn. According to Latino Review, "Warners is seriously looking at [Delevingne] for the villainous female role in the film." In the comic books, Quinn is the loyal accomplice and girlfriend of the Riddler, Batman's nemesis.

The model is about to take over the big screen as she will next be seen in the Amanda Knox-inspired movie, "The Face of an Angel'. Aside from "Suicide Squad," she is also rumored to have a role in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." It has also been recently confirmed that she was cast in the lead role for the screen adaptation of "Paper Towns."
