'Suicide Squad' Spoilers: Will Leto Deliver On Joker Expectations?

More plot details about the upcoming "Suicide Squad" film have been released.

The synopsis for the upcoming film has been revealed. The highly anticipated film "Suicide Squad" will be featuring the group of anti-heroes in the DC comic books. With that, it was said that this will mark the return of The Joker, ever since Heath Ledger's version of the character.

While he has big shoes to fill in following Ledger's portrayal, it was reported that Jared Leto's take on the character is expected to impress. Many reports have stated that Leto began taking on method acting in order to get into his character. Because of the dark material he and the rest of the cast have to tackle, it was said that the production crew has a psychologist present at all times in order to help the actors.

Ike Barinholtz recently shared some details about the character during an interview with The Inquisitr. He explained that Leto had some interesting antics while on the set. He stated, "He did this crazy thing...all the actors were rehearsing... so we're rehearsing, and this actor who plays the Joker's kind of lieutenant, walks in and he goes, 'Present for Ms. Quinn.' He hands her a box. She opens the box, and a live, giant black rat pops out. And we're like, 'What the f-k is going on? That's crazy!"

It was revealed that The Joker will be in love with Harley Quinn, who is played by Margot Robbie. Their romance has been hinted in the DC comics. However, there are rumors stating that another twist could be added in their romance. Some theories point that Harley Quinn could also be Batman's past romantic affair.

The ensemble cast of "Suicide Squad" also includes Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jay Hernandez as Diablo, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot and Karen Fukahara as Katana.

"Suicide Squad" is expected to release in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
