Sunday Best's Amber Bullock on Challenges of Professional Musicianship
Amber Bullock stole the hearts of this season’s record breaking “Sunday Best” audience and she’s about to steal the hearts of gospel music lovers everywhere with her debut Music World release, Thank You.
Like her label mate and fellow “Sunday Best” champion Le’Andria Johnson, Bullock originally just took a chance when she tried out for the show that would change her life.
Never expecting to win, Bullock blew away the competition with her jazzy-style vocals that left her highly esteemed gospel-jazz vocal coach Kim Burrell calling her a natural.
Describing her experience on the show, Bullock told BREATHEcast, “It was absolutely amazing. One of the best [experiences] in my entire life.”
Signing onto Matthew Knowles’ Music World, the young singer is living out her dreams of being a professional musician but it hasn’t come without its challenges.
“Leaving my daughter behind – most challenging, because you know, she’s two. You want to be there for all the stuff that’s happening around that age. I’m on the road a lot so I miss her a lot. So the most challenging is being away from my daughter.”
Despite the challenges, Bullock is pushing forward and releasing her highly anticipated debut project on Dec. 6. It's an album that she’s proud of and something she’s sure her fans will love.
“It was absolutely amazing. I take pride in it. I’ve worked on a lot of CDs before but never for my own so I’m very proud that I got to do that.”
