Super Bowl Ad Spots Sold Out
Advertisement space for the much anticipated Feb. 5 Super Bowl game is sold out already.
The news came via Seth Winter, a senior vice president for sports and marketing at NBC, according to The Associated Press.
The last advertisement spot sold just after Thanksgiving and the advertisement space for the 2012 game sold at record high prices, according to NBC Sports.
The average price companies paid for a 30-second advertising spot was $3.5 million. For some 60-second spots, the price climbed to as high as $4 million.
The game, which is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis, has a waiting list of advertisers vying to get their hands on a 30-second spot that they hope can yield them millions of dollars in return.
Although NBC has not commented on which companies have purchased the pricey ad slots, Winter did promise an entertaining set of advertisements.
“Some of the things I’ve seen are astonishing,” he told AP.
“I think you’ll see a lot of ads that are humorous and action-filled, with a range of different types of executions,” he added.
Godaddy.com has announced that they will be advertising during the Super Bowl again for its eighth consecutive year. General Motors has also purchased five slots during the game.
Themes projected for this year’s Super Bowl advertisements include the usual celebrity endorsements as well as car commercials.
Last year, one of the most popular commercials came from Volkswagen.
According to Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer at Volkswagen of America, the company will be doing an extra long 60-second slot this year.
Some of the companies who purchased one of the 70 available ad slots include first-timers like Century 21 Real Estate and yogurt giant Dannon.
Fans will be able to vote for their favorite TV ads via Facebook on the Facebook Super bowl AdMeter.
