Super Smash Bros 4 director, Masahiro Sakurai, has revealed the first Legendary Pokemon to appear in the upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game.
The Legendary pocket monster Pailkia, who also appeared in Pokemon Diamond for Nintendo DS, will be one of the Pokemon available to players who use the Poke Ball item during a battle.
Sakurai also stated the type of attack Palkia would make use of when unleashed during the battle, stating he will use his signature move, Spacial Rend, to do damage to opponents.
Pokemon Xerneas has also been teased to make an appearance in the new Smash Bros, however, Sakurai has not detailed how this one will be used in the game. More legendary Pokemon are expected to be announced during the next several months.
Lucario, the bipedal dog-like Pokemon that can read energy to predict the movement of his opponent will be a playable character in the game. This pocket monster is also capable of manipulating energy if the form of explosive spheres.
The new Super Smash Bros games were first announced at E3 in 2011. There is no word on an official release date, however, they are expected to launch before the end of this year. Both versions of the game will boast different trophies so players who purchase both will have some variety.
Super Smash Bros 4 on the Wii U will also feature a revamped version of edge-hogging.
Sakurai released his pic of the day last week that revealed this technique previously found in past iterations of Smash Bros. It involves one player holding onto a ledge so that the other player who is trying to return to the stage after falling off cannot grab it. It will be slightly altered in the Wii U version.
