'Super Troopers 2' Crowdfunding Campaign News: Indigogo Page Surpasses $2 Million Goal
For those fans eagerly wishing for the "Super Troopers" to return in the big screen, they can now start counting the days as the recent crowdfunding update for the anticipated sequel indicates that it has already surpassed the initial $2 million goal.
A report from Variety said that as of 5 p.m. PDT yesterday, Broken Lizard, the house behind the hit comedy movie, has already taken in $2.14 million in their Indiegogo campaign.
This will now assure for the second instalment to go into production, which was originally planned to go this summer, and will premiere on theatres probably in early 2016.
The script is already "written and we're getting all antsy in our pantsy to start shooting," according to their IndieGogo page.
"Super Troopers 2" will once again see the five Troopers featured in the original 2001 crime-comedy: Jay Chandrasekhar will appear as Trooper Arcot Ramathorn, Paul Soter as Trooper Jeff Foster, Steve Lemme as Trooper Mac Womack, Ertik Stolhankse as Trooper "Rabbit" Roto, and Kevin Heffernan as Farva.
20th Century Fox has agreed to distribute the film.
The "Super Troopers 2" campaign, which was set for a 30-day duration, is touted to break the current $5.7 million crowdfunding record for a film holder "Veronica Mars," which was done on Kickstarter.
Perks offered in the campaign includes access to annotated script, ownership and rights to one of the troopers patrol cars, the chance for a town to be named in the film, getting a producer credit, hanging out with the guys and many more.
