'Supergirl' Season 2 Episode 18: Kara Prepares for Rhea's Return

Mon-El's (Chris Wood) proud mother, Rhea (Teri Hatcher), has every intention of returning to Earth in the next episode of "Supergirl."

Last episode, Rhea discovered that her husband betrayed her by letting Mon-El stay with Kara (Melissa Benoist). The Daxamite royal family was planning on leaving together, but at the last minute, Rhea realized that her son was not on their spaceship. As the craft went farther and farther away from Earth, Rhea promised that Kara has not seen the last of her. She will return, and by that time, she will bring the whole force of Daxam with her to get her goal.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Benoist shared that there is more to the potential "mother-in-law problem" storyline.

"Isn't that how things work that just when you get things settled, some wrench has to fall into the gears? The Daxamites pose some problems. Rhea is not necessarily a sweet prospect for a mother-in-law, but it's really fun to see the way these characters interact," Benoist said.

Meanwhile, the promo for the episode titled "Ace Reporter" hints that Jack Spheer (Rahul Kohli) will soon become a powerful villain. The technology genius who will later call himself Biomax has come to National City to share his newest invention. The machine that he built promises to eradicate the major illnesses of the world. Previously, Kara's boss, Snapper (Ian Gomez), told her to cover Jack's press conference, and while she was impressed, she could not shake the thought that the scientist is hiding something.

Jack is actually Lena's (Katie McGrath) ex-boyfriend. The teaser shows them kissing, suggesting that they have eventually patched things up and have reunited. Together, it is expected that they will cause chaos in the city. Although Lena somehow managed to convince Kara that she was not like her mother, viewers could sense that she was not telling the truth.

"Supergirl" season 2 episode 18 will air Monday, April 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
