'Supergirl' Series Season 2 Update: Show Is yet to Be Renewed by CBS for Another Season

CBS has already announced the slate of the shows that will get a shot for another season with the network, and "Supergirl" is not one of them. While this non-renewal of the popular DC superhero show on the network has set its loyal viewers to panic mode, "Supergirl" may not just meet its demise yet.

In an interview with Digital Spy, actor David Harewood, who plays the role J'onn J'onzz in the series, there is a good chance for the show to get the nod of CBS executives for another season run.

"I've heard lots of rumblings - there are no guarantees… but CBS has made some very positive noises. All I know is that we've just had one of our biggest audiences of the year so far with the Flash crossover so it's all looking positive. The fans have been very vociferous and very vocal, so hopefully it's enough to get us a second season," Harewood said.

The list of CBS renewed shows includes "Blue Bloods," "Elementary," "Hawaii Five-0," "Madam Secretary," "Mom," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "NCIS: New Orleans," "Scorpion," "2 Broke Girls," "Survivor," and "The Amazing Race."

Notably, the roster does not include any first-season show on the network. However, this doesn't mean that all of the shows that premiered on the network last year, including "Supergirl," will not get any renewal at all. Last month, CBS CEO Les Moonves revealed that five of its freshman shows are likely to be renewed for, at least, a second season. With this pronouncement, only one of the network's first-season shows will be eliminated. As to what show will be crossed out from the list, viewers can only guess what it is among "Supergirl," "Code Black," "Limitless," "Life in Pieces," "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders," and the soon-to-be launched "Rush Hour."

Meanwhile, "Supergirl" is set to air its finale episode titled "Better Angels" on April 18.
