'Supergirl' Spoilers & Update: Kara Finds New Ally; Blake Jenner to Play Love Interest Role?

American science-fiction action-adventure drama series "Supergirl" is currently on hiatus for the mid-season break. But it won't be long until it will be back on the small screen with a new episode featuring a new ally.

According to Comic Book Movie, "Supergirl" will return with its season 1 episode 9 titled "Blood Bonds." A promo video has already been released and it showed a glimpse of the lady hero's new backup in battling against Non. Kara or Supergirl, played by Melissa Benoist, will be teaming up with the Martian Manhunter. It can be remembered that the character appeared in the winter finale episode.

In the official synopsis, it said that Astra is a prisoner at the DEO. This pushes her husband, Non (Chris Vance) to capture Hank, which results in the two sides having a standoff. The promo video also showed that Cat Grant is very much convinced of Kara being Supergirl. In turn, Kara also continues to dismiss her boss' idea.

In another note, the next episode of the series is going to have a light side amidst the tension and violence. According to International Business Times, Kara's love life will be touched as a new love interest is said to join in the story. The surprising thing is that the role of this potential love interest will be played by Benoist's real-life husband, Blake Jenner.

The two personalities met in the comedy-drama series "Glee" when they entered the show in 2012. The two got married in March 2015. Seeing them working together again in a love team will really please fans. However, Jenner will be an addition to the love "sandwich" that's already going on in the show.

Jimmy (Mechad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) have been battling for Kara's heart. Putting in another rival will make the competition tougher. The source cited that Jenner will play the role of Adam Foster, Cat's estranged son.

"Supergirl" returns on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 on CBS.
