Superman vs Batman Movie Release Date Update: Cast News Reveals Ben Affleck Not Behind Delay, Gal Gadot to Be Wonder Woman
The Superman vs Batman movie has been in the news over the past week as it was announced that the film had been delayed, resulting in its release date having to be pushed back from 2015 to 2016. However, the reason for those delays are now being rebuked, as evidence emerges that Ben Affleck was not the cause of the delay.
It had initially been reported by some media outlets that ben Affleck had sustained a leg or rib injury, and that this would delay the start of filming and have a knock on affect on the film's planned release date.
However, new reports emerging this week have claimed that many of the main cast for the movie are being called in to start shooting various scenes as soon as possible, according to Escapist Magazine.
Ben Affleck, who will play Batman in the film, has reportedly backed out of directing "The Middle Man," which is a Fox drama pilot, according to Deadline. The reason being touted by various reports is that Affleck is one of the cast members who has been "summoned to start work right away" on the Superman vs Batman movie.
Last week Yahoo News reported that Affleck had been injured, suffering an injury to either his ribs or legs, and many were citing this as the reason for the delay in the Superman vs Batman film.
However, seemingly rebuking those rumors, Affleck has since been seen looking healthy and fully fit, adding more evidence that Affleck is ready to begin shooting the eagerly anticipated superhero movie, and that he is not the reason behind delays.
Film Studio Warner Bros. has also claimed that the release date has been pushed back to "allow the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story."
The rumors about Affleck and the release delays are not the only to come out about the film in recent weeks, and cast-wise, a third superhero has been confirmed to join Superman and Batman in the film.
Fast and Furious star Gal Gadot has reportedly signed up to play Wonder Woman, which further reveals the complex nature the storyline will be taking for the film.
Many fans have dubbed the film "Superman vs Batman" although no official name has yet been released for what will be a "Man of Steel 2" film – a sequel to the smash hit Superman film starring Henry Cavill.
Last week's delays mean that the film is now looking at a release date of May 6, 2016. That also means that the film will avoid huge competition from other big action films set to be released near its original 2015 release date, including new installments of The Avengers, Terminator, Jurassic Park, and The Fast and The Furious.
