'Supernatural' Season 11 News, Cast, Spoilers: Secrets Are Kept Early in the Premiere
After months of waiting, the Winchesters are back and are ready to jump into action. And true to the Winchester nature, the brothers started early this season by keeping secrets, according to the recap by Hypable.
The premiere episode entitled "Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire" started off with Dean. Dean, after all, was in the center of things when the last season ended. Audiences were made aware that the new big bad, The Darkness, only has Dean to thank for her release because of how he was the one who bore the Mark of Cain. Upon the takeover of the Darkness over the land, she confronted Dean and informed him that from then on, they will always have a connection that will be there whenever one needs the other. Dean chose to keep this new fact from Sam, which is typical Dean, since he has a history of wanting to carry his crosses alone.
As for Sam, his predicament arose when they get stuck in a hospital surrounded by zombie-like creatures. This part is much reminiscent of the second season's "Croatoans," but instead of just trying to kill the zombies, Sam gave a speech on how they've switched from "saving people" to just "hunting things," which is the reason why they're continuously stuck in a dysfunctional cycle. He said that the only way to stop it is if they make a conscious effort to do so. After he convinced Dean to separate in order to save Jenna and baby Amara, Sam was attacked by one of the creatures, and though he eventually cut her throat, the blood splattered into his mouth, thus infecting him. Viewers saw the effects of the virus later on.

As for Castiel and Crowley, they were seen dealing with their own problems throughout the premiere. Castiel bid the Winchesters good-bye temporarily to work on his issues, adjusting to Rowena's attack dog spell, and he decidedly surrendered himself to the angels. However, upon doing so, Castiel found himself tied and ready for torture instead of being in heaven. On the other hand, Crowley had to face the dilemma of looking for a new meatsuit. Upon finding a place within a suburban housewife, his demons eventually found him and reported more bad news, which is that the cage where Lucifer, Michael, and Adam are shaking up more than ever.
