'Supernatural' Season 13 Cast News, Air Date: New Poster Released; Christian Keyes to Portray Archangel Michael
The season 13 poster of "Supernatural" has been released.
The poster featured the Winchester brothers on opposite sides of a dividing beam. They were joined by Castiel, played by Misha Collins, who was last seen getting stabbed at the end of season 12. And while fans have been assured time and again that Castiel will be returning, his appearance in the poster was certainly comforting.
The new key art also featured the tagline, "Dawn of Darkness," which gives viewers a hint at what season 13 has to offer. It can be recalled that the previous season concluded with the reveal of an entirely new dimension where Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) do not exist. And in this other world, Archangel Michael was alive and well.
It is expected that Michael will be the main antagonist of the upcoming season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Christian Keyes has been tapped to portray the character.
"The Michael of apocalypse world is the victor," showrunner Andrew Dabb told the publication. "He's a very different character than the one we met even in season 5. He's Genghis Khan. He's been through the wars. He's conquered the world."
The media outlet also published a first look photo at Keyes' new Michael.
But season 13 will not be all drama and action. Fans are also looking forward to a "Scooby Doo" crossover episode, where Sam and Dean will become cartoons. Additionally, an episode revolving around vampires on a train is coming. Humorously titled "Stakes on a Train," the episode is scheduled to air in the second half of the season.
Fans are also going to see Sam and Dean's parenting sides as they try to raise Lucifer's (Mark Pellegrino) son, Jack. The season 12 finale saw Lucifer being tackled into the other apocalyptic dimension by Mary (Samantha Smith), leaving Jack behind.
"Supernatural" season 13 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 12, on The CW.
