Furthermore, Collins referred so Castiel as a "reluctant leader."

"Cas is on his own, continuing to hunt Metatron and figure out how he can get back at Metatron and restore the natural heavenly order," he said to EW. "The reluctant leader is something that continues to be a storyline for Cas this season."

Though Misha Collins' Castiel is now a fan favorite, the actor previously discussed the initial reaction "Supernatural" viewers' had to his character.

"At first, people were way of anybody coming in that might take attention away from Sam and Dean, but [now] it's like, 'All right, there's a little extra room,'" he said, according to AfterElton.com.

Collins also shed light on his character's "daunting undertaking" during season nine and the "hijinks" that ensue. Nevertheless, "Supernatural" fans will have to wait until this week's installment to learn more. The synopsis for "Meta Fiction" is as follows: "Metatron tries to get Castiel to join forces with him. Meanwhile, Sam and Dean capture Gadreel."

"Supernatural" airs on the CW Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.

Meanwhile, actress Lindsey McKeon also shared a teaser about "Supernatural" recently by posting to Twitter about her return to the series.

"Off to Vancouver to reprise my role as #TessaTheReaper… Stay tuned, you will all be very excited," the actress shared.
