Swansea were given a tough task in their first game of the season as they travelled to Stamford Bridge to face defending champions Chelsea.

Most gave them no chance to win against the Blues as Jose Mourinho's men were definitely stronger on paper.

However, the match isn't played on paper and the Swans were in it to win the game as well.

Chelsea got to an early lead thanks to a goal from Oscar, but the Swans struck back only six minutes later as Andre Ayew leveled things in the 29th minute of the match.

An unfortunate own goal by Federico Fernandez a minute later gave Chelsea the lead again and it seemed like the night for the champions.

However, Swansea still had another strike ready as Bafetimbi Gomis was struck by Thibaut Courtois inside the penalty area that resulted in the keeper being sent off.

Gomis converted the subsequent penalty and they drew level for a second time, this time holding on to share the points with the champions.

Meanwhile, Newcastle hosted Southampton and also had a 2-2 draw after the game. Papiss Cisse and Georgino Wijnaldum scored for the Magpies as they erased a 1-0 deficit to go up 2-1 in the game. However, they were unable to stop Southampton from scoring their own tying goal and they got one point each after 90 minutes of action.

Swansea have a big advantage in their head-to-head match as the Swans have won four of their last five meetings, with the other ending in a draw. Newcastle will hope to be able to break the spell and beat Swansea for the first time since 2012.
