Switchfoot to Release 'Greatest Hits' Album
Christian alternative rock band Switchfoot will be releasing their first-ever "greatest hits" anthology this year, pulling together songs from all six albums as well as one newly-released song from the movie soundtrack of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian."
The 18-song collection, The Best Yet, will be available at all physical and digital retail outlets starting Nov. 4, according to an announcement made Friday.
Switchfoot member Tim Foreman said the songs on the album were ones "that we would like to play for someone who has never heard of Switchfoot."
"There is quite a wide musical journey expressed in that list," he added, "and we're very proud of that part of our history as a band.
"Beyond that, we've been digging into the vault to find rare video content for the deluxe edition, so that the hard-core fan that does decide to buy it won't be disappointed," the five-man band's bassist said.
According to Friday's announcement, the deluxe edition of The Best Yet features 14 videos, including not only its huge MTV/VH-1 played hits, but also rare and never before released for sale videos, "The Blues," "Happy is a Yuppie Word" and "Company Car."
The release of The Best Yet will come two weeks after Switchfoot concludes their groundbreaking 23-city "Music Builds" tour, which the band co-headlined along with Third Day, Jars of Clay, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. A portion of the funds raised during the festival-style tour has been benefiting Habitat for Humanity affiliates located in the tour cities.
The tour, which hit California this weekend, concludes Oct. 12 in Denver.
