Sylvester Stallone's Son Dead: Cause of Death Due to Unidentified Pills

Sylvester Stallone's son, Sage Stallone, has died aged 36, it has been announced Friday. The announcement was made via a phone call from Sage Stallone's lawyer with Los Angeles TV station KNBC. The cause of death has not been officially confirmed but according to TMZ was the result of an overdose of an unidentified type of pill.

The lawyer explained, "Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever."

According to LA police officers Sage Stallone's body was discovered at his Los Angeles home. However, it was not officially announced what the cause of death was. He had not responded when an acquaintance called to check on him. The LAPD performed a welfare check, where they found him dead.

Sage Stallone had been alone in the apartment and according to TMZ his death was due to an overdose of an unidentified type of pill.

George Braunstein, Sage Stallone's attorney, explained to KNBC that the 36 year old was in fact engaged to be married, and was working on numerous film projects at the time of his death on Friday.

Sage Stallone acted in movies "Daylight" and "Rocky V" both with his father. In 1996, he and film editor Bob Murawski co-founded Grindhouse Releasing, a Los Angeles based company dedicated to the restoration and preservation of exploitation films.

In recent years, Stallone directed his first short film Vic which screened at the 2006 Palm Springs, California Film Festival.
