Synod Agenda to Focus on Methodist-Anglican Covenant
The agenda for the General Synod of the Church of England will not include the controversy on homosexuality but focus on the Methodist-Anglican Covenant, guidelines for professional conduct of clergy and financial and legislative business.
Synod members will await the Archbishop of Canterbury's first Presidential Address which will inevitably refer to the present division in the worldwide Anglican Communion.
A debate on race and racism will be one of the major issues. A national children's strategy, a strategy for church buildings and cathedrals to seek new partnership with the government will also be debated.
