T.I. Defends Iggy Azalea's 'Art', Says He's No Ghostwriter

Iggy Azalea does not have her raps written by her mentor and popular rapper T.I.

While Azalea, the 24-year-old hip hop artist, has been the subject of speculation when it comes to writing her own music, T.I., 33, recently defended his protege.

"I ain't no ghostwriter. Iggy got her own ideas and thoughts that she presents to the world her own way, man," he told Detroit radio station Hot 107.5. "I couldn't write a lot of the (expletive) she says. I couldn't put her thoughts into words as articulate as she does."

He went on to singer Iggy's praises while giving a behind the scenes look into how the writing process goes.

"She just has a different way of presenting herself and her art. Now, don't get me wrong … everybody in the studio helps with hooks and certain things like that," T.I. revealed. "That goes for me and any of the other top five rappers. Everybody."

T.I. statements come a month after people accused fellow rapper Nicki Minaj of insinuating that Iggy does not write her own rhymes at the BET Awards last month. Minaj, 31, won the honor of Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the award show, but caused speculation when people thought she was calling Iggy out with her acceptance speech.

"What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," Minaj said. "No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade."

While Minaj later took to Twitter to deny aiming her speech at Iggy, the latter did not feed into the speculation.

"Generally speaking I'm unbothered by anything that 'happened' at the BET awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time," she previously wrote on Instagram. "Anyone who wishes me well, is welcome in my life & those who don't can't get any more of my time. I hate to see everyone exhausting themselves on my behalf over things that I'm still not 100% sure even exist & don't matter. just let it go."
