T-Mobile Offers New Prepaid Plan, Simply Prepaid to Start at $40 A Month

T-Mobile company may be offering what could be the cheapest prepaid wireless plan in the market with its new Simply Prepaid, offering unlimited services for only $40.

T-Mobile and CEO John Legere are known for surprising their customers and the entire wireless industry with its various affordable and cheap plans. Last month was one such example when they announced a monthly data rollover for those who don't use their plans, which ended up with rival AT&T creating a similar plan. This time T-Mobile might have outdone itself with the Simply Prepaid.

Debuting on Jan. 25, the prepaid wireless plan offers unlimited text, talk and data starting at $40.

There are three monthly plans being offered: $40 per month for 1GB of data, $50 per month for 3GB of data and $60 per month for 5GB of data. All of which can be will come at a speed of 4G LTE. However, once customers reach the data cap, for the remaining month the speed will decrease to only 2G speed or 129Kbps.

The mobile carrier is already offering a similar plan through the MetroPCS brand, and is offering the Simply Prepaid above and over all its other existing prepaid plans. It remains to be seen if T-Mobile customers, and the additional 8.3 million customers they had last year, will be availing of the service when it comes out next week.

"There's a reason the Un-carrier continues to be number one in prepaid," Leger said during the launch of the Simply Prepaid."It starts with our willingness to break the rules and give customers better choices."

He also added that T-Mobile has more plans in store for its customers, saying, "We will never stop eliminating customer pain points. The 1.2 million net new prepaid customers who joined T-Mobile last year already see that value, and we have no plans to stop there."
