Tablet Roundup: Besides Apple and Samsung's Tablets, Several Options Exist (VIDEOS)
The tablet market offers several more options besides Apple's iPad 2 and Samsung's Galaxy tablets.
The Velocity Micro Cruz T408 is an Android-based tablet. It runs on the Android 2.3 operating system. The tablet's features include an 8-inch capacitive touch screen, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of onboard storage, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, a front facing camera and a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor.
This device is currently available for $199.
Archos also has a line of tablets in its inventory. The company just introduced its Arnova 9 G2 device. This tablet features a 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 pixel IPS display, 5-point multi-touch capacitive touch panel, 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 single core processor, compatibility with Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread, speakers, a built-in microphone and a front-facing camera.
This device also has 8 GB of flash storage, a microSD card slot, a USB port, and micro USB port, and 802,11b/g/n WiFi.
Other devices from the Archos camp include the Archos 101 G9 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet at $300, Archos Arnova 10 G2 Android 2.3 tablet at $195, and the Archos Arnova 8 G2 Android 2.3 tablet at $176.
Other lesser known tablets can be found, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad K1 10-inch Android 3.1 tablet at $350, and the Motorola XOOM 10-inch Honeycomb tablet at $350. These tablets and the previously mentioned ones provide a cheaper alternative to more popular tablets.
The better-known tablet devices that have been successful thus far include the iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Barnes & Noble Nook Color, HP TouchPad, and Amazon Kindle Fire.
