'Taboo' Season 1 Episode 8 Spoilers: Season Finale Ushers in More Troubles for Delaney

James Delaney's (Tom Hardy) war against the crown and the East India Company comes to a head in the upcoming season finale of the period drama "Taboo." But can his knack for surviving each deadly encounter with his enemies still work wonders when the Prince Regent (Mark Gatiss) himself launches a final plan to take him down?

When Delaney came back home to London following the death of his beloved father, Horace Delaney (Edward Fox), all he wanted to do was inherit his old man's shipping empire and rebuild his life from there. But ever since his return, he has been uncovering truths about his father's legacy that set all sorts of enemies on his path.

In the upcoming episode 8, the last one for the show's freshman run, Delaney's final reckoning will begin, starting off with Sir Stuart Strange (Jonathan Pryce), the ambitious leader of the East India Company, whom he will be hitting with the cold hard truth.

Several other revelations about the people around him will also be discovered and accorded their just and deadly punishments. And then there's the Prince Regent, whose lethal fury will finally be unleashed on Delaney in a grave attempt to destroy his life.

But even if Delaney survives the upcoming finale, his conflicted life may still be far from over especially after an interview with RadioTimes.com has revealed that writer and series co-creator Steven Knight envisioned the series to run for two or three more seasons

"That's the plan," Knight said. "After that who knows," he said.

In another interview with Collider, Knight shared that after his father, the only person he trusted, had died. Delaney's loyalty now only lies on himself, which could make him prone to do more reckless things like board a ship without second thoughts, go to where the waves should take him, and just basically take on the whole world.

"That's his moral code," Knight said.

The season finale of "Taboo" airs in the U.K. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 9:15 p.m. GMT on BBC, while American audiences can catch the episode on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10 p.m. EST on FX.
