'Taisho Chicchai-san' Air Date, Spoilers: Short-Form Anime Adaptation of Game Series to Launch in October
A boy's dream of attending a university in Tokyo brings him right into the heart of a complicated plot brought about by the Imperial army on the upcoming short-form Japanese anime series, "Taisho Chicchai-san."
With nothing left to lose and all the world to gain, young Hiiragi Kyouichirou decides to leave his humble provincial town to head to Tokyo and attend a university there. His one and only significant possession is a sword that has been in his family for as long as he could remember. He takes this sword along with him in order to protect himself.
However, it seems that there is more to the sword than what meets the eye because as soon as Hiiragi arrives in Tokyo, he finds himself getting swept right into a plot orchestrated by the Imperial army.
And it seems that Hiiragi himself may be more than just a normal provincial boy trying to find his place in the Taisho era, around the year 1926. In the game series, "Taisho Mebius Line" from which the upcoming anime is based, Hiiragi actually has the ability to see ghosts. Moreover, the people around him all have supernatural abilities as well.
"Taisho Mebius Line" is a boys' love game series first released by LoveDelivery in 2012. Dramatic Create later on released the game series' all-ages version for the PSP two years later in 2014, as well as for the PlayStation Vita in 2016.
HolicWorks has announced late last year that the said game series, which has gained popularity among its target female audience, will be adapted into a short anime consisting of five-minute episodes.
However, while the game seems to tell a rather serious narrative, the 2017 anime adaptation is expected to be a humorous foray into the Taisho era and will feature deformed versions of the characters that appeared in the game, just like the latest "Ikemen Sengoku" anime adaptation.
Boys' Love (BL) is a genre of fictional media that depicts the relationship of two male characters that is usually romantic in nature. Material falling under this genre is typically marketed for the female demographic.
"Taishou Chicchai-san" premieres on Friday, Oct. 6, at 9:55 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX.
