Tamar Braxton Says New Album Reflects 'Inner Spirit' Following Much Brokenness (Video)
Singer and TV personality Tamar Braxton recently revealed that her much-anticipated album, Bluebird of Happiness, is about where she is now in her journey after much brokenness.
After two years, Braxton released her fifth and presumably last studio album on Sept. 29. The 11-track project was executive produced by the singer, her husband Vincent Herbert, and Rodney Jerkins.
The album comes after Braxton was fired by Telepictures/Warner Bros. in 2016 from her job as co-host of the popular daytime TV show, "The Real." According to Rap-Up, the work of music is a combination of her past works but the singer revealed more details this past week.
In a recent visit to "The Wendy Williams Show" last week, Braxton talked about her album journey and the reason Bluebird of Happiness will be her last album.
"I have to take a step back and figure out what is working and what is not working," she told Williams. "It was a lot of negative things that came out last year. I lost my job publicly. There was a lot of rumors floating around ... It was a lot of negative things. I just found myself on a quest for happiness."
She revealed that she got to a point in her life where she was so unhappy and could not recognize anything around her anymore.
"I'm not quitting music, I'm just not making another album," Braxton said.
Although a lot of drama and controversy followed her firing, the songstress said, "I have no issue with anyone other than the devil."
She went on to say that the album making process happened during her quest for joy.
"On my quest for happiness, I had to get in tune with my spirit," Braxton shared, noting that the album cover reflects her "inner spirit." "I felt so broken, so lost, and confused about everything. [I still feel that way] some days, but I'm a lot better than I was."
The 40-year-old also testified about the goodness of God after her mother recently had a heart attack and stroke.
"He's (God's) so good, she's home three days later," she said.
Braxton will be joining Xscape and Monica on "The Great Xscape Tour" this fall, and her album, Bluebird of Happiness, is now available.
